About Us

Elizabeth Badu was the name of my Great Grandmother who was from Ghana. She passed away at the age of around 104 years, her exact age is not know but she was around about that age. She had many children over 13 and her eldest child was my Grandmother Elizabeth Achamepong.

My Grandmother was a stylish woman with very long hair and she too had many children one of whom was my mother Margaret Ama-Teiba Bonney another stylish lady who inspires me with her style and chicness and good eye for quality pieces in particular vintage pieces. As a child my mother would often take me into secondhand shops before they were trendy and to outdoor markets such as Camden in North London. I used to be scared of all the punks down there and by what at the time I thought  were 'crazy people dressed wierd'.

My mother also has twin sister who is a Lingerie designer and creates beautiful pieces. As a daughter of a mother of twins I also went on to have 5 children a singleton and two sets of twins. One of my twin daughters is called Elizabeth named after her Great great grandmother and great grandmother. Her twin sister Autumn also has a love for fashion.

As a family 'Elizabeth Badu' is a way to honour my mothers before me and to inspire and leave a legacy for my daughters and sons and also to share with the world my passion for fashion with a strong emphasis on unique fashion, sustainable fashion which is a big part of our ethos to get as much wear out of an item of clothing before it is thrown onto the landfill. We are also and advocate for small businesses and would welcome working with current and up and coming designers. This is just the beginning of Elizabeth Badu so you are welcome to join us on our journey.
